German League, Game 7: October 27-29, 2006
Marcin Gortat RheinEnergie EnBW Ludwigsburg stays as the only team unbeaten in the German League and improved to 6-0 in the standings by downing the Deutsche Bank Skyliners 65-80 in Frankfurt on Sunday. Miljan Goljovic paced the winners with 16 points while Jerry Green had 14 for Ludwigsburg, which broke the game early in the final period and never looked back. Alba Berlin improved to 6-1 by thrashing the Giessen 46ers 57-74 on the road on Friday. Will Avery had 16 points for Alba while Chris Owens added 13. Alba allowed just 8 points in the second quarter to get a 26-40 halftime margin. The 46ers did not recover and Alba cruised to a big road win. Brose Baskets moved up tp 3-1 by beating Ratiopharm Ulm 72-87 on the road. DeJuan Collins led the winners with 18 points and 9 assists. Adam harrington added 16 on 6-for-8 shooting, Chris Ensminger had 15 off the bench while Vincent Yarbrough scored 13 points in an easy road win for Brose Baskets. RheinEnergie had to work harder than expected to edge Paderborn Baskets 70-65 in Cologne also on Sunday. Marcin Gortat paced RheinEnergie with 16 points on 7-for-7 shooting. Ronald Burrell added 13, Demond Mallet had 12 and Immanuel McElroy 11 for the winners, who led 65-63 with 2 minutes to go. Burrell, McElroy and Mallet shined in crunch time to seal the outcome. In other games, TBB Trier edged New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig 77-80, the Artland Dragons topped Bayer Giants Leverkusen 88-80, Walter Tigers Tubingen beat Telekom Baskets Bonn 77-68, Eisbaren Bremerhaven thrashed BG Karlsruhe 94-75 while EWE Baskets Oldenburg bested Sellbytel Baskets Nurnberg 74-64.
