Marcus Goree - Benetton VidiVici Bologna has become the only unbeaten team in the Spanish League so far and leads the standings with a 5-0 record. VidiVici edged archrivals Climamio Bologna 64-60 in the Bologna superclassic on Sunday morning. Travis Best paced the winners with 17 points while Daniele Cavaliero had 11 for Climamio. Montepaschi Siena is now second at 4-1 due to a 76-64 road loss against Whirlpool Varese on Friday, while Upea Capo D'Orlando also ties for the second place by beating TDShop.it Livorno 76-69 behind 28 points on 12-for-14 shooting and 12 rebounds from Jayson Wells. Lottomatica Roma improved to 3-2 by thrashing Bibop Carire Reggio Emilia 86-64 at home on Sunday. David Hawkins led the way for Lottomatica with 16 points. Benetton also moved up to 3-2 by topping Premiata Montegranaro 70-61 in Treviso on Sunday behind 19 points from Marcus Goree. Snaidero Udine improved to 2-3 by edging Armani Jeans Milano 92-90 in a big thriller at home on Sunday night. Larry O'Bannon led the winners with 23 points, but Kristaps Valters became the game hero by hitting the game-winning free throws with seconds to go. Eldo Napoli bounced back from recent losses by by topping Air Avellino 87-80 at home with Michel Morandais leading the winners with 21 points. In other games, Siviglia Wear Teramo thrashed Angelico Biella 64-84 while Legea Scafati topped Pallacanestro Cantu 89-74.

Lottomatica Roma improved to 3-2 by thrashing Bibop Carire Reggio Emilia 86-64 at home on Sunday. Hawkins led the way for Lottomatica with 16 points, Dejan Bodiroga added 12, Jerome Moise had 11 and Alex Righetti 10 for the winners. Reggio Emilia led 20-22 after 10 minutes, but a 13-0 run which Bodiroga capped with a layup allowed Lottomatica to get a 43-29 margin at halftime. Back-to-back triples by Garri made it a 22-point game, 51-29, and Lottomatica never looked back. Benetton also moved up to 3-2 by topping Premiata Montegranaro 70-61 in Treviso on Sunday. Goree led the way for Benetton with 19 points while Marco Mordente and Angelo Gigli each added 14 off the bench for the winners. Goree and Mordente led Benetton in the second quarter to give the hosts a 34-24 edge at halftime. Montegranaro never recovered, while back-to-back triples by Goree and Mordente made it a 20-point game, 63-43, enough to seal the win. Snaidero Udine improved to 2-3 by edging Armani Jeans Milano 92-90 at home on Sunday night. O'Bannon led the winners with 23 points, but Valters became the game hero by hitting the game-winning free throws with seconds to go. Jacob Jaacks added 15 points, Valters had 14, Silvio Gigena 11 and Damon Williams 10. Joseph Blair led Milano with 21 points and 14 rebounds. The game saw as many as 11 lead changed before Jaacks and Andrew Wisniewski hit 2 free throws apiece for an 88-84 Udine edge. Massimo Bulleri followed 3 free throws with a big triple to tie it at 90-90, but Valters sealed the win from the free throw line.

Eldo Napoli improved to 3-2 by topping Air Avellino 87-80 at home. Michel Morandais had 21 points for Napoli, Tierre Brown added 15 and Ansu Sesay 14 for the winners. Andrea Pecile had 29 points and 9 rebounds for Avellino, which led 43-45 at halftime and rallied to get within 78-75 already in the final 3 minutes. Mason Rocca, Brown and Sesay shined in crunch time to allow Napoli to win the game. Montepaschi Siena dropped to 4-1 due to a 76-64 road loss against Whirlpool Varese on Friday. Jack Galanda led Varese with 17 points. Rimantas Kaukenas also had 17 points for Montepaschi, Romain Sato added 16 and Ben Eze 12. Varese led 23-18 after 10 minutes but Siena stayed in the game, as a layup by Kaukenas brought the guests within 44-41 midway through the third quarter. A 9-0 run gave Varese full control of the game, as the hosts boosted their margin to 70-54 and never looked back. Climamio dropped to 2-3 by losing against archrivals VidiVici 64-60 in the Bologna superclassic on Sunday morning. Best paced the winners with 17 points. Cavaliero had 11 points for Climamio while James Thomas and Steffen Hamann each added 10. It all came down to the final 2 minutes, as back-to-back triples by Cavaliero gave Climamio a 55-56 edge. Bennet Davison stepped up with a critical basket for Virtus, while Best and Brett Blizzard allowed the hosts to win the game down the stretch.
