Italian League, Game 6: November 4-5, 2006
Preston Shumpert Climamio VidiVici Bologna stays as the only team unbeaten in the Italian League with a perfect 6-0 record. VidiVici Bologna thrashed TDShop.it Livorno 69-85. Christian Drejer led the winners with 22 points on 9-for-11 shooting. Montepaschi Siena stayed second with a 5-1 record by beating Lottomatica Roma 84-68 at home on Sunday morning. Joseph Forte led the winners with 23 points on 12 of 12 free throws, as Montepaschi opened the game witha 20-8 run and never looked back. Climamio Bologna had to battle for 45 minutes to edge Eldo Napoli 85-83 at home in an intense overtime thriller on Sunday. James Thomas hit fre throws to send the game to overtime, while Preston Shumpert hit the game-winning basket with seconds to go. Shumpert paced the winners with 29 points and 9 rebounds, James Thomas posted a monster double-double of 17 points and 18 rebounds while Tyus Edney scored 14 points and dished 13 assists. Mason Rocca led Napoli with a double-double of 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting and 12 rebounds. Benetton Treviso and Snaidero Cucine Udine registered respective road losses, 80-75 against Siviglia Wear Teramo and 81-66 against Air Avellino. In other games, Armani Jeans Milano beat Angelico Biella 86-77, Premiata Montegranaro rallied in the final period to thrash Legea Scafati 89-71, Whirlpool Varese topped Bipop Carire Reggio Emilia 77-89 while Pallacanestro Cantu defeated Upea Capo d'Orlando 94-83.

Montepaschi Siena stayed second with a 5-1 record by beating Lottomatica Roma 84-68 at home on Sunday morning. Forte led the winners with 23 points on 12 of 12 free throws. Terrell McIntyre, Rimantas Kaukenas and Romain sato each added 13 points for Montepaschi. Ognjen Askrabic had 18 points for Roma while Dejan Bodiroga added 13. Montepaschi Siena opened the game with a 14-2 run which Forte capped with free throws and never looked back, getting a 20-8 edge after 10 minutes and extended it to 67-45 at the end of the third quarter, enough to cruis to a well-deserved win. Benetton Treviso dropped to 3-3 due to a 80-75 road loss against Siviglia Wear Teramo. LeRoy Hurd and newcomer Kristaps Janicenoks led the winners each with 17 points. Terrell Lyday had 21 points for Benetton while Angelo Gigli added 16 for the guests, who got their last lead at 17-19 late in the first quarter but managed to get within 77-75 already in the final minute. Norman Nolan and Anthony Grundy sealed the win from the free throw line.

Climamio Bologna needed overtime to edge Carpisa Napoli 85-83 at home in thrilling fashion on Sunday night. Shumpert paced the winners with 29 points, 9 rebounds and the game-winning basket. Thomas posted a monster double-double of 17 points and 18 rebounds, David Bluthenthal had 16 points while Edney scored 14 points and dished 13 assists for another double-double. Rocca led Napoli with a double-double of 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting and 12 rebounds. Matteo Malaventura added 18 points while Jeff Trepagnier and Alessandro Cittadini each had 11 for the guests. Shumpert and Bluthenthal fueled an 11-0 run after the break which allowed Climamio to get a 64-54 lead after three quarters. Malaventura and Rocca fueled Napoli's comeback and the guests got a 71-75 edge with undr 2 minutes to go. Free throws by Thomas and Stefano Mancinelli allowed Climamio to take the game to the extra period, 75-75. A free throw by malaventura gave Napoli a 81-83 edge, but Edney hit 2 foul shots and then fed Shumpert for a layup, good for a 85-83 lead. Valerio Spinelli missed the game-winning triple for Napoli at the buzzer. Snaidero Cucine Udine dropped to 2-4 due to a 81-66 road loss against Air Avellino. Harold Jamison led the winners with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Jacob Jaacks had 18 points for Udine, which stayed in the game for 30 minutes but could not escape with a win.
