Spanish League, Game 9: November 18-19, 2006
Luis Scola - Tau Ceramica Real Madrid maintains its position atop the Spanish League following another solid victory, 64-82 on the road at Fuenlabrada, kept it as the only undefeated team in the competition after nine games. Louis Bullock led five Madrid double-figure scorers with 17 points. Tau Ceramica ruled its duel with Akasvayu Girona, 95-75, to stay a victory behind Madrid as Luis Scola was near-perfect with 19 points. Akasvayu's defeat allowed Caja San Fernando and MMT Estudiantes to join it in a three-way tie for third place. Caja won 70-87 on the road at Pamesa Valencia for its fifth straight victory, while Estudiantes prevailed 93-85 at home against Murcia. Unicaja took revenge for an earlier Euroleague home loss by blowing out DKV Joventut 81-63 with Carlos Cabezas exploding for 19 points. Gran Canarias Dunas joined a four-way tie for sixth place - with Unicaja, Joventut and Fuenlabrada - with a 63-56 decision over visiting Menorca as Mario Fernandez came off the bench for 17 points. Winterthur FC Barcelona dropped to 10th place with a rare 65-67 home loss to Bruesa San Sebastian despite 19 points from Juan Carlos Navarro. Barcelona ties with Alicante, a 76-82 road winner at Valladolid, while a victory behind is Bilbao, a 76-85 winner at Granada. All told, five of the nine games in the ninth round were won by visiting teams.

Joining Bullock in double figures were Charles Smith with 12 points, Kerem Tunceri with 11, Ratko Varda and Axel Hervelle with 10 each. Tau blew away Girona with a 28-11 first quarter and never looked back. Sergan Erdogan followed Scola with 17 points in as many minutes. A 31-47 advantage in the middle qurters allowed Caja San Fernando to win going away at Pamesa Valencia. Marco and Filip Videnov, with 11 points, helped the Caja bench total 39 points. Ruben Douglas had 24 points for Pamesa.

Back-to-back triples in the third quarter by Marlon Garnett gave Estudiantes a lead it did not reliques the rest of the way against Murcia. Garnett finished with 26 points having hit 6 of 8 triples. Will McDonald added 17 points, Hernan Jasen and Goran Nikolic 15 each, and Gonzalo Martinez 10 for Estudiantes. Marcus Fizer put up 30 for Murcia. Gran Canaria played with fire by falling behind 6-1 on its own court, but was saved by its bench to stop next-to-last place Menorca. Besides 17 from Fernandez, the winners got 10 points from Jackson Vroman as the bench outscored the Gran Canaria starters 42-21. Only Sam Clancy, with 22 points, could do much for Menorca.
