Marcus Faison - RheinEnergie EnBW Ludwigsburg is the exclusive leader atop the German League with a 11-1 record by beating Brose Baskets 72-85 in Bamberg on Sunday. Je Kel Foster led the winners with 26 points. DeJuan Collins had 26 points for Brose Baskets while Zelly Wesson posted a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts, who dropped to 6-4. Foster and Milan Goljovic led Ludwigsburg to a 30-36 halftime margin. Povelas Cukinas shined after the break, as the guests boosted their margin to 42-60 after three quarters. Brose Baskets did not rally and Ludwigsburg cruised to a big road win. RheinEnergie now ties for the second spot at 10-2 by edging Bayer Giants Leverkusen 82-77 in overtime at home. Demond Mallet led the winners with 19 points, Marcus Faison and Immanuel McElroy each added 13 while Marcin Gortat had 12 for RheinEnergie, which led 37-29 at halftime. Leverkusen rallied and got a 52-56 lead with under 6 minutes to go. Faison rescued RheinEnergie with 6 critical points while Aleksandar Nadjfeji and Gortat hit free throws take the game to overtime, 68-68. McElroy and Mallet shined in the extra period to win it for the hosts. Alba dropped to 10-2 and also ties for the second place due to a 74-71 road loss against Walter Tigers Tubingen. Ajene Moye led the winners with 23 points. Will Avery had 22 points for Alba, Julius Jenkins added 14 and Sharrod Ford 11 for the guests, who trailed 20-8 after 10 minutes. Alba did not panic, however, and Nenad Canak allowed the guests to get a 60-61 edge already in the final period. A three-pointer by Avery made Alba get a three-point lead, 67-70, but a 7-1 run which Igor Perovic capped with free throws put Tubingen ahead, 74-71.
