Baltic League, Game 11: December 9-10, 2006 |
Lietuvos Rytas raised its Baltic League record to 9-1 and keeps leading Group B by thrashing Tartu Rock of Estonia 91-62. Rytas led 21-12 after 10 minutes and increased its margin in an easy home win, just as it was expected. Robert Stelmahers led four players in double figures with 22 points. Matthew Nielsen and Andre Emmet each netted 18 points and Joao Batista added 15 for the winners. Meanwhile, Ventspils overwhelmed Atletas Kaunas 113-70 to improve to 7-4 in the Group B standings. Dalron Johnson led 9 Ventspils players in double digits with 21 points on 6 of 6 two-pointers. Maris Laksa and Eddie Shannon tallied 19 apiece, Dusan Jelic added 17, Aigars Vitols had 14, Pavel Veselovs and Ivars Timermanis chipped in 13 apiece and Raimonds Gabrans bagged 11 in an easy win for Ventspils. Zalgiris stays as the only undefeated team in the competition and leads Group A with a 12-0 record by downing Lacplesa Alus 84-102 on the road on Sunday. Tanoka Beard led the winners with 23 points, Kirk Penney added 22, Mantas Kalnietis had 17 and Jonas Maciulis 12 for Zalgiris, which opened the game with a 7-28 run and never looked back. In other games, Kalev Tallinn edged Neptunas Klaipeda 89-81, Panevezys crushed Nevezis 91-78 and Siauliai topped Sakalai 73-58.
