Italian League, Game 11: December 9-10, 2006
David Bluthenthal - Climamio Nothing changed atop the Italian League standings, as Montepaschi Siena and VidiVici Bologna keep leading the standings each with a 9-2 record. Montepaschi thrashed Capo D'Orlando 98-66 at home on Sunday behind 17 points from Romain Sato. Meanwhile, VidiVici edged Air Avellino 80-85 on the road with 22 points from Kris Lang. Armani Jeans Milano is now third at 8-3 by downing visiting 85-67 on Sunday morning. Joseph Blair led Milano with 15 points while Marcus Goree had 16 points for Benetton. Elsewhere in the league, Climamio downed Lottomatica Roma 92-66 at home on Saturday to improve to 5-6 in the standings. David Bluthenthal led 5 Climamio players in double digits with 17 points. Snaidero Cucine Udine improved to 4-7 by beating Siviglia Wear Teramo 93-84 behind 24 points from Jacob Jaacks, while Eldo Napoli topped Legea Scafati 90-68 to move up to 6-5. Ansu Sesay led Napoli with 18 points. In other games, Angelico Biella edged Tisettanta Cantu 109-114 in overtime, Premiata Montegranaro beat Whirlpool Varese 90-79 while TDShop.it Livorno bested Bipop Carire Reggio Emilia 78-66.

Climamio improved to 5-6 by thrashing Lottomatica Roma 92-66 at home on Saturday. Bluthenthal led the winners with 17 points. James Thomas added 16 and 12 rebounds, Tyus Edney and Stefano Mancinelli each had 13 points while Preston Shumpert tallied 11 for Climamio. David Hawkins had 18 points for Roma while Mire Chatman added 12. Edney and Thomas led Climamio to a 26-20 lead after 10 minutes, while back-to-back triples by Daniele Cavaliero ignited a 11-0 run which made it a 17-point game, 37-20. Lottomatica never recovered, as 10 unanswered points by Bluthenthal gave Climamio a 53-30 halftime margin and the hosts never looked back after the break. Benetton Treviso dropped to 7-4 due to a 85-67 road loss against Armani Jeans Milano. Blair led Milano with 15 points. Goree had 16 points for Benetton, Marco Mordente added 13 and Matteo Soragna 12 for the guests. Benetton trailed all the way since the opening basket, but a three-pointer by Goree brought the guests within 44-43. A 16-2 run which bridged between the final two quarters allowed Milano to get a 66-50 margin early in the final period, enough to cruise to a well-deserved win.

Montepaschi Siena keeps tying atop the standings with a 9-2 record by thrashing Upea Capo D'Orlando 98-66 at home on Sunday. Sato led the winners with 17 points, Vladimer Boisa and Lonny Baxter each added 15 while Luigi Datome had 10 for Montepaschi, which led all the way and extended its margin at the end of each quarter. Siena led 46-35 halftime, boosted its margin to 68-49 after three quarters and then again to 80-51 with 5 minutes to go, enough to seal an easy win. Snaidero Cucine Udine improved to 4-7 by beating Siviglia Wear Teramo 93-84 at home on Saturday. Jaacks led the winners with 24 points on 10-for-12 shooting. Jerome Allen added 14 points and 12 rebounds, Michele Antonutti had 12 and Larry O'Bannon 11 for Udine, which broke the game in the second quarter. O'Bannon and Jaacks allowed the hosts to get a 46-35 halftime margin, while three-pointer by Silvio Gigena, Antonutti and Christian De Guiliomaria boosted Udine's margin to 76-59 after three quarters. Teramo never recovered and Udine added a much-needed win. Eldo Napoli improved to 6-5 by downing Legea Scafati 90-68 at home. Sesay led the way with 18 points, Alessandro Cittadini added 12 and Michel Morandais 10 for Napoli, which only led 41-38 at halftime. Morandais led a 12-0 opening run after the break which allowed Napoli to get full control of the game until the final buzzer.
