British League, Week 18: January 26-28, 2007 The Guildford Heat registered back-to-back wins this week to stay atop the British Championship with a 15-3 record. The Heat survived a thriller by edging the Leicester Riders 86-87 on the road on Saturday behind 23 points from Mike Martin. The Heat led 56-79 after three quarters but the Riders had a wild comeback in the final period, capping the game with a 18-0 run which was not enough for the hosts to win the game. On Sunday, the Heat thrashed the Plymouth Raiders 107-88 behind 22 points from Dean Williams and 21 from Chad McKnight. The Newcastle Eagles improved to 14-6 and keep tying for the second spot in the standings with the Sheffield Sharks by beating the Milton Keynes Lions 73-94. Tony Dorsey had 20 points for the winners. The Sharks had no problems to beat London United 83-67 with 24 points and 10 rebounds from Tarick Johnson. In other games, the Scottish Rocks thrashed London United 77-105, the Chester Jets edged the Plymouth Raiders 72-73 and the Lions beat the Worcester Wolves 68-86 on Saturday. The Jets bested the Wolves 122-94 on Sunday.
