Gabrans and Johnson - Ventspils Ventspils extended its record in the Latvian League to 8-0 by winning three consecutive games on the road this week. On Tuesday the Latvian champions topped Barons/LMT 51-69 behind 18 points from Uvis Helmanis and 13 and 8 rebounds by Kaspars Cipruss. On Thursday Ventspils outlasted Liepaja 68-99 as Akselis Vairogs had 20 points and Helmanis 16. On Saturday it took a 68-88 success over Bumerangs behind 16 points from Eddie Shannon and 15 from Raimonds Gabrans. In other games, Barons/LMT thrashed 54-91 Falco/Kei on the road and ASK Riga edged ASK/Jun 71-79 led by 17 points from Aaron Bramlett to climb to second place with a 5-1 record.
