Baltic League, Phase 2, Game 11: March 6-10, 2007 |
Zalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius continued their run atop the Baltic League Division I table by winning their games this week against Siauliai and ASK Riga, respectively, to improve to 6-1. Zalgiris thrashed Siauliai 92-67 behind 23 points from newcomer Loren Woods, who also amassed 10 rebounds, Jonas Maciulis tallied 14 and Paulius Jankunas netted 9. L. Rytas scored a 77-85 away win at Riga on Saturday led by Janis Blums's 18, while Tomas Delininkaitis added 16 and Arturas Jomantas 14. The guests led 14-21 at the end of the first quarter and maintained a 34-40 margin at halftime. L. Rytas increased the difference to 48-59 midway through the third, but Riga climbed back to 56-62 after 30 minutes. Sandis Valters tied the score from downtown at 68-68, but Jomantas answered to restore his side's lead and never the Lithuanian champs never looked back. On Wednesday, ASK Riga edged Barons/LMT on the road 76-80 behind 18 points from Sandis Buskevics.
