 Alba Berlin was the big winner as the German League playoffs began, blasting Eisbaren Bremerhaven 105-65 in Game 1 of the quarterfinals. The top three teams from the regular season all registered Game 1 wins, while defending champion Brose Baskets Bamberg was edged 54-55 by Ricky Paulding and EWE Baskets Oldenburg. Branimir Longin made a clutch free throw with 3 seconds remaining and missed the second on purpose as time ran out to lift Oldenburg. In Berlin, Julius Jenkins scored 26 and Bobby Brown added 18 points and 5 assists as Alba cruised to an easy win.
