The Newcastle Eagles' 11th straight British Basketball League victory saw the leaders improve to 23-3 in the standings, maintaining a three-win advantage over second place Kularoos Plymouth Raiders. The Eagles topped BiG Storage Cheshire Jets 83-97 on Sunday on the strength of a 0-17 fourth-quarter run. Lynard Stewart led the Eagles with 25 points and Steve Levan added 23. Plymouth won its seventh in a row and improved its record to 20-7 by stomping the Everton Tigers 85-66 as Drew Lasker netted 22. Defending champion Guildford Heat remained in the fight for second place after a 90-76 home win over PAWS London Capital. Tony Dorsey and EJ Harrison posted 25 points apiece as the Heat avenged last week’s loss in London. Mike Martin added 15 and Danny Gilbert recorded 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Ibrahim Garbia led London with 18. In other games, the Jets rocketed past Team Birmingham Panthers 79-117 as Jayson Obazuaye led six Jets scorers in double figures with 22 points, Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders bested the Sheffield Sharks 78-65 behind a 24-points, 15-rebound and 4-block performance by Carlos White and SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks crushed Birmingham 113-62 as eight Rocks scorers had at least 10 led by Sterling Davis with 18 points.
