Lottomatica Roma stayed alive in the Italian League finals and ended Montepaschi Siena's unbeaten run Tuesday with a 84-70 win in Game 4 of the best-of-seven series. Montepaschi would have clinched its second straight Italian championship with a win, but will instead have to wait until Thursday night to try to clinch the title at home in Game 5. Ibrahim Jaaber scored 9 straight during a 12-0 run that gave the hosts a 71-58 lead midway through the fourth quarter to blow open a game that had been tight until that point. A Vlado Ilievski three-point play brought the visitors within 8 with more than three minutes to go, but an Erazem Lorbek free throw and a Roko Ukic basket restored control to Roma and the hosts held on for the win. Jaaber led all scorers with 22 points – 13 of which came in the fourth quarter. Lorbek added 17 points and 6 rebounds, Ukic scored 12 and David Hawkins had 10. Roma came out fired up and opened up a double-digit lead in the opening minutes, but Ksistof Lavrinovic kept Montepaschi in the game and when the dust settled, it was 39-39 at halftime. The hosts held narrow leads throughout the third period, but when Montepaschi playmaker Terrell McIntyre scored to start the fourth quarter, the score was 59-58. However that's when Jaaber stepped up and put the game out of reach. Lavrinovic led Montepaschi with 14 and Bootsy Thornton scored 13 as their club saw a 15-game playoff winning streak end.
