Lithuanian League, Game 13 and All-Star Game: February 22-24, 2008

The Lithuanian League All-Star Game took place on Saturday and the Lithuanian team edged the Foreign squad 110-109 in a thrilling showdown. Virginijus Sirvydis paced the winners with 18 points, Jonas Maciulis of Zalgiris added 17, Donatas Zavackas of Siauliai had 13, Nerijus Varnelis got 11 while Marijonas Petravicius for Lietuvos Rytas scored 10 points for the Lithuanian All-Star. Hollis Price of L. Rytas led the Foreign All-Star team with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Kenan Bajramovic of L. Rytas added 26 points while Antonio Grant of Siauliai had 21. It all came down to the final seconds, in which Maciulis hit the game-winning shot for the Lithuanian All-Stars, enough to be considered the game MVP. Marius Runkauskas of Neptunas won the three-point shootout with 22 points. He had 26 points in the semifinal, a record in the event. Meanwhile, Mantas Kalnietis of Zalgiris won the Slam Dunk contest. L. Rytas and Zalgiris also played this weekend and registered respective wins. Zalgiris thrashed Atletas 97-72 on Sunday behind 19 points and 14 rebounds from Mamadou Ndiaye. Maciulis added 14, Kalnietis had 13, Marko Popovic and Damir Markota got 12 each while Paulius Jankunas scored 11 points in an easy win for Zalgiris. L. Rytas thrashed Alytus 120-92 in Vilnius on Friday. Martynas Gecevicius led 8 players in double digits with 20 points. Arturas Jomantas added 19, Mindaugas Lukauskis and Andrius Slezas each had 16, Michailas Anisimovas got 14, Chuck Eidson 13, Petravicius 11 and Jared Jordan 10.
