Lithuanian League Finals, Game 1: May 5, 2008
Marijonas Petravicius - Lietuvos Rytas Lietuvos Rytas started the best-of-seven Lithuanian League finals by edging Zalgiris Kaunas 76-73. Mindaugas Lukauskis led the way by scoring 22 points on an amazing 5 of 7 from long distance, while Marijonas Petravicius amassed a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. L. Rytas started on fire, building a 17-4 margin late in the first quarter, but the guests reacted to stay close at 23-17 after 10 minutes. Paulius Jankunas gave Zalgiris its first advantage, 26-27, midway through the second quarter, but Hollis Price beat the buzzer from beyond the arc for a 37-33 halftime advantage, which the hosts maintained during the third quarter as it finished 56-48. With the hosts leading 63-59, Zalgiris went on a 0-11 run capped from downtown by Marcus Brown to lead 63-70, but L. Rytas answered to take again the lead at 74-71 thanks to back-to-back three-pointers from Robert Stelmahers and Price. Lukauskis, from the foul line, fixed the final at 76-73 before DeJuan Collins missed the potential shot to tie the game. Damir Markota posted 17 points and Jankunas had 16 for Zalgiris.
