Lithuanian League Finals, Game 3: May 12, 2008

Defending Lithuanian League champion Zalgiris Kaunas stole back the home-court advantage in the finals on Monday with a thrilling 90-91 overtime win over Lietuvos Rytas at Siemens Arena in Vilnius. A Paulius Jankunas free throw with 8 seconds remaining in overtime proved to be the game-winner as Hollis Price, whose free throws with 11 seconds left tied the game at 90-90, was unable to convert on L. Rytas’s final possession. The game was close throughout the first half, at the end of which a Marcus Brown three-point play gave Zalgiris a 43-47 lead. The visitors, led by Jonas Maciulis, then scored the first 9 points of the third period to take a 13-point lead. L. Rytas slowly clawed its way back, tying the game at 77-77 with three-and-a-half minutes to go in regulation and then going ahead by 3 after a Chuck Eidson free throw and a Price jump shot. But Maciulis drilled a triple to tie the score on the next possession and the race went down to the wire. DeJuan Collins made 1 of 2 free throws with 15 seconds left to tie the score at 81-81 and Kenan Bajramovic missed a potential game-winner at the buzzer. The extra period would feature another two ties and two lead changes before Jankunas put Zalgiris on top for good. Brown led Zalgiris with 27 points and 7 assists, Maciulis added 16 points, Jankunas had 11, Damir Markota scored 11 and grabbed 10 rebounds and Eurelijus Zukauskas posted 10 points. Bajramovic paced L. Rytas with 24, Price scored 19, Eidson 11 and Marijonas Petravicius 10. Game 4 is set for Wednesday evening.
