Adriatic League champion: Partizan Igokea
|
Partizan Igokea won the first championship of the season by completing a spectacular Adriatic League season and beating Hemofarm Stada 69-51 in the title game in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Partizan lost only 2 Adriatic League games all season, winning the last seven of the regular season, sweeping fellow Euroleague side Cibona in the quarterfinals and then beating host Union Olimpija in the first game of the Final Four en route to the club’s second consecutive Adriatic League triumph. Nikola Pekovic scored 22 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and was named Final Four MVP as Partizan became the first team to win back-to-back Adriatic League crowns. Pekovic scored 4 points in a 10-2 run at the end of the second period that gave Partizan a 40-27 halftime lead and a further 9-0 spurt in the third period finished Hemofarm off. Austrian League champion: BSC Raiffeisen Furstenfeld
|
BSC Raiffeisen Furstenfeld edged Oberwart Gunners 88-89 on an Anthony Shavies free throw with 2 seconds remaining to win the Austrian League championship for the first time in club history. The Panthers won the best-of-five series 3-2, taking the final two games by a total of 3 points, to become the 16th team to win the Austrian League. Shavies, who finished with 24 points, was named finals MVP. The Panthers would elad by as many as 11 before Hannes Ochsenhofer sparked a 10-2 charge midway through the fourth quarter as the Gunners stormed back and eventually tied the score at 78-78. The hosts went on to seize an 84-80 advantage, but then Furstenfeld came right back and with 64 seconds to go Slobodan Ocokoljic made it 86-86. Jay Youngblood and Shavies traded scores and the game went to the wire. In the end, Shavies drew a foul in the closing seconds, went to the line and made the first clutch free throw, enough to bring his team the title. Baltic League champion: Zalgiris Kaunas
|
Zalgiris Kaunas won the Baltic League by edging Lithuanian League rival Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius 84-86 in the competition’s final in Siauliai, Lithuania. It was the club’s second title in the four-year history of the competition. L. Rytas won the other two with the two Lithuanian giants meeting in each season’s final. This season the title game was a true thriller. After L. Rytas’s Hollis Price tied the game from the line with 4 seconds remaining, the final seemed destined for overtime. But DeJuan Collins had other plans and slashed through the L. Rytas defense for a game-wining layup at the buzzer. Collins finished with 29 points and Marcus Brown added 24 for Zalgiris. Chuck Eidson and Kenan Bajramovic netted 16 each in defeat. ASK Riga topped Barons/LMT 96-82 in the third-place game. MORE |

Belgian League champion: Spirou Basket Charleroi
|
A Justin Hamilton layup in the closing seconds lifted Spirou Basket Charleroi to its seventh Belgian championship. Charleroi beat Basket Bree 59-61 in Game 3 to sweep the best-of-five Belgian League Finals and capture its first championship since 2004. It was a topsy-turvy game, which Bree seemed to control when it held Charleroi scoreless for more than nine minutes in the second period as it scored 14 straight points en route to a 28-17 halftime lead. Bree's advantage reached 15 in the third period before Matt Walsh heated up and helped bring Charleroi to 44-37 heading into the fourth quarter. Walsh hit another triple with just over three minutes remaining to cap a 0-8 run that gave the visitors their first lead since the first period. Dor Fisher responded for Bree, but that would be the hosts’ last lead. Wes Wilkinson and Tremmell Darden pushed Charleroi ahead by 3, before a Michael Meeks triple tied the game at 59-59 with a minute remaining. Charleroi held for the last shot and had Hamilton soar for the game-winning basket in the last seconds. Walsh led the winners with 19 points and Hamilton finished with 9. Bosnia and Herzegovina League champion: Bosna ASA BHT
|
Goran Ikonic, Lance Williams and Bryan Bailey combined for 54 points as Bosna ASA BHT bested Igokea Partizan 82-67 in Sarajevo on Tuesday to win the Bosnia and Herzegovina championship. Bosna claimed its third league title in four years. Bosna outscored Igokea in each of the four periods to slowly build its lead en route to a comfortable win in front of 5,000 fans. Ikonic led the way with 20 points, Williams added 18, Bailey 16 and Suad Sehovic 10 for the new champs. Myron Allen paced Igokea with 19 and Nikola Vucurovic scored 12 in defeat. MORE |

British League champion: Newcastle Eagles
|
The Newcastle Eagles won the British Basketball League title for the second time in three years in emphatic fashion by coming back from a 20-point second-half deficit to defeat the defending champion Guildford Heat on the road in overtime 101-108. The Eagles clinched the title with two games to go in the regular season, which the Eagles finished with an impressive 29-4 record – five wins more than the second placed Heat. Guildford led 88-68 late in the third quarter, but the Eagles never quit, turned up the defensive pressure and used a 3-15 charge to finish regulation and force overtime when player-coach Fab Flournoy made a pair of free throws with 14 seconds remaining to tie the game at 96-96. In the extra time, Andrew Bridge's shooting took care of business and lifted Newcastle to its first win of the season over Guildford. Steve Leven led the Eagles with 30 points, Lynard Stewart – who was later named BBL Player of the Year – had 20 points and 12 rebounds and Darius Defoe came off the bench for 18 points. Bulgarian League champion: Lukoil Academic
|
Lukoil Academic wrapped up an amazing undefeated season by dumping Balkan 68-90 to sweep the Bulgarian League finals and win the club’s sixth consecutive Bulgarian championship. It also completed the third season in a row and fifth in six years in which the club has won both the league and Bulgarian Cup titles. Academic won 44 games in domestic competitions this season, combining the regular season, Bulgarian Cup and playoffs. The champs were never seriously challenged in the playoffs, winning the eight games of the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals by an average of 26.4 points per game. Willie Deane was the man in Game 3 of the best-of-five finals, throwing down 39 points on 6-of-9 three-point shooting. Pero Antic and Todor Stoykov added 11 each for Academic, which this season celebrated 50 years to an appearance in the first European Cup title game in 1958 against ASK Riga. MORE |

Croatian League champion: KK Zadar
|
Zadar won its second Croatian League title by thrashing Split 89-65 in do-or-die Game 5 of the best-of-five final playoff series. Andrej Stimac paced the winners with 21 points, Juby Johnson added 20 and Rok Stipcevic had 10 for Zadar. Hrvoje Peric had 21 points for Split. Peric gave Split his only lead of the night, 3-5, in the opening minutes. Johnson and Jere Macura put Zadar ahead and 5 quick points by Pankracije Barac helped Zadar take a double-digit lead, 25-15, after 10 minutes. Johnson kept pacing Zadar and Stimac extended the hosts' margin to 44-32 at halftime. Stimac had 12 points in the third quarter, in which Split was only limited to 8 points, and soon struck from downtown to break the game open, 70-40, with nine minutes to go. Czech League champion: CEZ Basket Nymburk
|
The Czech League crown will stay put after CEZ Basket Nymburk won its fifth straight Czech League championship by blasting Geofin Novy Jicín 93-70 in Game 5 of the best-of-seven finals series. After Novy Jicín’s Kenny Walker tied the score at 54-54 midway through the third period, the hosts rallied off 21 unanswered points to put the result out of doubt. Arthur Lee scored 8 during that run to lead Nymburk. The lead reached 26 later in the fourth quarter as Nymburk coasted to the title. Lee finished with 10 points and 5 assists for the winners. Radoslav Rancik scored 21 to lead Nymburk, Radek Necas added 19 points and 10 rebounds, Ladislav Sokolovsky had 18 and Monte Mack 11. Walker paced Geofin with 15 and Robert Sarovic added 14. MORE |

Dutch League champion: MyGuide Amsterdam
|
MyGuide Amsterdam dethroned defending champion EiffelTowers Den Bosch to win a classic best-of-seven series 4-3 and the Dutch League crown. Amsterdam scored its first title since 2005 and the sixth in the last 11 years by topping EiffelTowers 81-74 in Game 7 in the Dutch capital. Teddy Gipson became the game hero by hitting back-to-back triples late in the fourth quarter to put Amsterdam ahead for good. He also led the winners with 27 points. Tamien Trent added 15, Avis Wyatt had 14 and Jeron Roberts got 12 for Amsterdam. Robert Owens and Darell Tucker led EiffelTowers each with 17 points. Kees Akerboom added 16 and Travis Young had 10 for the guests, who had a 13-point lead in the second quarter and still kept a 64-65 edge with six minutes remaining. French League champion: SLUC Nancy
|
SLUC Nancy is the French League champion. After three unsuccessful trips to the French League title game, Nancy erupted to beat defending champion Choral Roanne 84-53 at the Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy and lift the crown themselves. Jeff Greer posted 29 points and 10 rebounds – both season highs – to earn the MVP. Victor Samnick and Jeff Greer helped Nancy during a 14-5 first-quarter run to give their team the lead for good, but Roanne hung tight throughout the half to trail only 45-34 at halftime. But by holding the defending champs to just 9 third-quarter points, Nancy opened a 23-point lead after 30 minutes and another excellent defensive effort in the last period allowed Nancy to celebrate early. Nancy took 16 offensive rebounds and won the overall battle of the boards 46-34. Samnick added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Nancy, Cyril Julian had 15 points and 8 rebounds and Ricardo Greer amassed 5 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. German League champion: Alba Berlin
|
Alba Berlin wrapped up its first German League championship since 2003 by beating Telekom Baskets Bonn 79-88 in overtime. Berlin won the best-of-five finals series 3-1 to secure a berth in the Euroleague for next season. Julius Jenkins scored 30 points – including 11 in overtime – to earn MVP honors. Bobby Brown added 24 for the winners, who captured their eighth career German championship. Bernd Kruel scored 6 during an 8-0 push that bridged the opening two periods as Bonn took a 27-17 lead. The lead reached 15 when Winsome Frazier hit a three-pointer and followed it with a layup midway through the second period. Philip Zwiener helped Berlin cut the gap to 40-33 by halftime. Brown and then Jenkins heated up to get Berlin back in the game by the end of the third quarter, setting up a dramatic fourth quarter that featured five lead changes and five ties. Jeremiah Davis tied it for Bonn at 71-71 with 12.6 seconds remaining and Berlin was unable to score in the last possession, setting up overtime. Ronnie Burrell gave Bonn the lead at the start of the extra period, however Jenkins tied from the line, then Immanuel McElroy gave Berlin the lead for good and by the time Jenkins was done, Berlin was celebrating a hard-earned championship. . Greek League champion: Panathinaikos
|
Panathinaikos won its sixth straight Greek championship by downing archrival Olympiacos 90-76 in do-or-die Game 5 of their playoff final series at home in OAKA Sports Hall. Panathinaikos claimed a 3-2 series victory as each team won all its home games. It was the third year in a row that the Greens beat the Reds in the finals, winning their 10 Greek League crown in the last 11 years and 29th overall. Mike Batiste and Sarunas Jasikevicus scored 18 points apiece to lead head coach Zeljko Obradovic’s men. Vassilis Spanoulis added 15 points and Kostas Tsartsaris 12 for the winning side, while Dimitris Diamantidis proved once again to be Panathinaikos’s go-to-guy, bagging 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists and 1 block including two deciding triples down the stretch. Israeli League champion: Hapoel Holon
|
For only the second time in 38 years, Euroleague runner-up Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv is not the national champion of Israel. Hapoel Holon stunned Maccabi to win the Israeli League title with a thrilling 72-73 victory in the single-game final in Tel Aviv. At Nokia Arena, Maccabi's home court, Malik Dixon drive with 2.3 seconds remaining with the game-winning shot for Holon, which was just promoted to the Israeli top division this season. The win ended a 14-year run for Maccabi as the Israeli champion and is just the second time since 1970 that the club has failed to take the title. Maccabi slowly pulled away throughout the second half and went up 65-57 midway through the fourth quarter on a Terence Morris three-pointer. However Holon didn’t quit and rallied to tie the game at 67-67 on P.J. Tucker free throws and then to take the lead on Dixon's three-point play. Free throws from Will Bynum and David Bluthenthal helped Maccabi tie it at 70-70 with 51.6 seconds remaining. Tucker then put Holon up 1 with 22.6 seconds left, but after a timeout, Nikola Vujcic gave Maccabi the lead on a bank shot with 6.5 seconds on the clock. Italian League champion: Montepaschi Siena

Montepaschi Siena finished off one of the greatest seasons in club history by beating Lottomatica Roma 92-81 for the club's second straight Italian League championship. Roma hung around and closed the gap to 77-72 with three minutes to play, but Ksistof Lavrinovic converted a three-point play and added a three-pointer during a 10-2 run that sealed the win. Montepaschi won the best-of-seven series 4-1 and finished the playoffs this season with an impressive 10-1 record. Bootsy Thornton led a typically well-balanced team effort of six scorers in double figures with 17 for Montepaschi. Terrell McIntyre recorded 16 points and 5 assists, Lavrinovic scored 15, Rimas Kaukenas 14, Romain Sato 11 and Shaun Stonerook posted 10 points and 8 rebounds. Latvian League champion: Barons/LMT

Barons/LMT edged ASK Riga 79-78 in Game 5 of the Latvian League finals to win the championship for the first time in club history. The Barons won the best-of-seven series 4-1 and guard Armands Skele was named playoffs MVP after averaging 16.4 points on 63% two-point and 48% three-point shooting plus 3.8 assists per game. The Barons won the closest game of the series thanks to another great shooting night and a big game from Demetrius Alexander, who posted 22 points and 8 rebounds. Joao Paulo added 17 points, Skele 13 and Dontell Jefferson had 10 for Barons, who won despite committing 24 turnovers. Lithuanian League champion: Zalgiris Kaunas

Zalgiris Kaunas repeated as the Lithuanian League champion with a thrilling 75-81 overtime win over rival Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius. Zalgiris held L. Rytas scoreless for the final two-and-a-half minutes of overtime to win the game and take the best-of-seven series 4-1. Regular-season winner L. Rytas won Game 1 at home, but Zalgiris reeled off the next four games to win Zalgiris’s fifth Lithuanian championship in the last six seasons. The win completed a magical season for the club in which it also won the Adriatic League and the Lithuanian Cup. DeJuan Collins led the way for the newly crowned champs with 15 points and 5 assists. Montenegrin League champion: KK Buducnost Podgorica
|
For the second year in a row, Buducnost Podgorica has won the national club championship of Montenegro. Buducnost defeated Mogren Budva 94-70 to sweep their best-of-five playoff finals 3-0 and take the second champions title ever awarded in Montenegro. Buducnost did not lose a single game this season on its way to the title. After playing in the ULEB Cup and Adriatic League, it won all 10 Montenegrin League games by an average of 20 points. Buducnost was also the only team in the league with positive point-difference. Mogren ended the regular season with 6-4 record. In the final, Buducnost won Game 1 at home in Podgorica 115-90, and Game 2 in Budva 63-101. Buducnost forward Vladimir Dasic was the dominant force of the Montenegrin League, as its leading scorer and stealer, and among the best in rebounds and assists. Buducnost won despite playing the national championship without four players who led team in the ULEB Cup and Adriatic League: Vladislav Dragojlovic, Bojan Bakic, Nenad Mijatovic and Zarko Rakocevic. Polish League champion: Prokom Trefl Sopot

Milan Gurovic led Prokom Trefl Sopot to its fifth consecutive Polish League championship with a 70-76 road win over regular-season champ, PGE Turow Zgorzelec. Gurovic scored 11 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead three-pointer and late free throws to ice the win with 14 seconds remaining as Prokom won Game 7 in the thrilling best-of-seven series. The game was an even battle throughout the second half and went down to the final seconds. After Turow's Robert Witka and Thomas Kelati fouled out, Gurovic took over, hitting 2 big free throws and nailing a clutch jumper. Vjeko Petrovic and Iwo Kitzinger missed triples for the hosts' last chance allowing Prokom to celebrate the victory and another title. Gurovic led the way with 36 points and 10 rebounds. He hit 5 triples and was perfect in 11 attempts from the free-throw line. Igor Milicic added 9 points and Filip Dylewicz finished with 7 for the winners. Portugal League champion: Ovarense Aerosoles

Ovarense Aerosoles completed a Portuguese League three-peat by thrashing FC Porto Ferpinta 70-49 in do-or-die Game 7 to win the best-of-seven finals series 4-3, just like last season. The victory gave Ovarense its third consecutive Portuguese League championship and fourth overall. Graham Brown paced the winners with 15 points and 11 rebounds. John Waller added 13 points and Gregory Stempin had 12 for Ovarense. Nuno Manarte and Miguel Miranda struck from downtown in a 9-0 run that gave Ovarense an early 11-4 lead, which it never relinquished. The lead swelled to 28-14 in the second period and hit 41-26 by halftime. Ovarense made it a 20-point game right after the break and then coasted as the Ovarense fans started to celebrate another Portuguese League title long before the final buzzer. The 21-point margin of victory was the largest of the series, which saw four games decided by 3 points or less. Romanian League champion: CSU Asesoft Ploiesti
|
CSU Asesoft Ploiesti wrapped up its fifth consecutive Romanian League championship by topping U Mobitelco Cluj Napoca 82-66 in Game 7 of the best-of-seven finals series. Bojan Obradovic scored 25 and Arvydas Cepulis had 23 for the winners. Cluj had the early advantage and led 22-34 midway through the second period. However Ploiesti stormed back with 12 unanswered points to tie the game and after a Rashard Griffith slam took a 41-38 halftime lead. Ploiesti continued to dominate in the third quarter with a 16-5 push led by Obradovic to take a 62-48 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. The lead swelled to 20 in the last quarter as the home fans began to celebrate another Romanian League title. Zoran Krstanovic paced Cluj with 23 in defeat. MORE |

Russian League champion: CSKA Moscow
|
CSKA Moscow is once again the Russian League champion! CSKA won its sixth consecutive Russian League crown, its 15th since the Russian League was created in 1992 and its 39th counting Soviet Union titles by sweeping its best-of-five title series against Khimki by 3-0. The reigning Euroleague champion rounded out an almost perfect season by downing Khimki 78-88 on the road in Game 3. Trajan Langdon led the winners with 21 points, Matjaz Smodis added 16, J.R. Holden contributed 13, Ramunas Siskauskas had 12 and David Andersen 11 for CSKA. Maciej Lampe paced Khimki with 21 points, Kelly McCarty added 18, Anton Ponkrashov 14 and Vitaliy Fridzon 13 for the hosts, who trailed 49-52 late in the third quarter. Siskauskas, Andersen and Theo Papaloukas stepped up big from that moment to break the game open - 62-79 - with four minutes to go, enough to seal the outcome.. MORE |

Serbian League champion: Partizan Igokea

Partizan Igokea claimed its seventh straight Serbian crown and stayed as the team to beat in Serbian basketball by downing Hemofarm Stada 45-67 on the road in Game 4 of the best-of-five finals series. Milt Palacio netted 15 points, Dusan Kecman scored 14 and Milenko Tepic recorded 9 points and 7 assists for the winners, who forced Hemofarm into 18 turnovers en route to the road win. It was Partizan’s third title this season – Adriatic League, Serbian Cup and Serbian League championship – and head coach Dusko Vujosevic's men beat Hemofarm in the final every time. The Serbian League title rounds one of the best seasons in club history, as Partizan also reached the Euroleague Quarterfinal Playoffs - eliminating Panathinaikos in a do-or-die Top 16 game that became an instant classic - and was just one win away from reaching its first Final Four in a decade. . Slovenian League champion: Union Olimpija
|
Union Olimpija is once again the Slovenian League champion! Olimpija clinched its 14th Slovenian League title by downing defending champion Helios Domzale 3-1 in the best-of-five final playoff series. Olimpija thrashed Helios 60-84 in Game 4 in Domzale to stay as the team to beat in its country. Goran Dragic and Marko Milic paced the winners each with 20 points. Hasan Rizvic added 18 while former Helios shooter Sasa Doncic had 17 for Olimpija. Milic grabbed 9 rebounds and Doncic pulled down 8 boards. Aljaz Janza had 22 points for Helios and Aleksej Laskevic added 12. It was a balanced game in the early going, as Janza and a three-pointer by Dario Krejic allowed Helios to get a 22-21 edge after 10 minutes. Olimpija improved its defense in the second quarter, as Milic and Doncic fueled a 0-17 run that Hasan Rizvic capped with a dunk to break the game open, 24-40. Olimpija held a 28-43 margin at halftime and an outstanding Milic boosted the guests' lead to 37-59 late in the third quarter. Spanish League champion: Tau Ceramica

Tau Ceramica won its second Spanish League title and first since 2002 by sweeping the best-of-five final playoff series against AXA FC Barcelona. Tau downed Barcelona 76-61 in front of almost 10,000 fans at Fernando Buesa Arena in Vitoria in Game 3 to finish one of the best seasons in club history with two titles - the Spanish League and Spanish Supercup - and appearances in the Spanish King's Cup final and the Euroleague Final Four. Igor Rakocevic paced the winners with 16 points. Pete Mickeal added 14 and was chosen as the Spanish League finals MVP. Mirza Teletovic had 12 and Tiago Splitter 11 for Tau. Fran Vazquez had 12 points for Barcelona, Pepe Sanchez added 11 and Mario Kasun 10 for the guests. Barcelona stayed in the game for 25 minutes, as Sanchez brought the guests within 43-39. Rakocevic and Mickeal stepped up to help Tau boost its margin to 67-50 and seal the outcome long the final buzzer, allowing its fans to celebrate that their team is the new Spanish champion! MORE |

Swiss League champion: Benetton Fribourg Olympic

Benetton Olympic Fribourg won its second straight and 15th overall Swiss League title on Saturday by downing Lugano Tigers 73-59 in Game 3 of the best-of-five finals series at St. Croix Arena in Fribourg. Pascal Perrier-David scored 16 points to lead the champs. After a first balanced quarter, which ended at 19-19, the hosts sparked a 20-8 run to lead 39-37 at halftime. Back from the lockers, the Tigers tired to get back, but Olympic maintained a double-figure margin, 59-48, after 30 minutes and increased it with a 20-6 partial in the final 10 minutes. Dave Esterkamp added 14 points and Erroyl Bing and Harold Mrazek had 12 apiece. Dusan Mladjan was the main contributor for Lugano. Fribourg finished the playoffs with a 9-1 record. MORE |

Turkish League champion: Fenerbahce Ulker

Fenerbahce Ulker successfully defended its Turkish League crown by dumping challenger Turk Telekom 90-79 at the Abdi Ipekci Arena in Istanbul. Fener won the best-of-seven finals series 4-1. Omer Onan scored 20 and Willie Solomon recorded 10 points and 10 assists to lead the winners to their third title. The first was in 1992. Fener led throughout the game, racing out to an early 16-6 lead and going up 26-17 after 10 minutes. The lead grew to 35-21 midway through the second period, before Khalid El-Amin pulled Telekom back within 6. Mirsad Turkcan ensured Fener a 50-40 lead at halftime. The advantage swelled to 17 in the third quarter and Telekom never seriously challenged after that. Semih Erden added 14 points and 6 rebounds for Fener, James White had 12 and Turkcan finished with 10 points, 6 boards and 5 assists. Ukrainian League champion: Azovmash Mariupol

Azovmash Mariupol won its third consecutive Ukrainian League title by edging archrival BC Kyiv 84-79 to win the best-of-five finals series 3-1. Panagiotis Liadelis paced the winners with 22 points on a strong shooting night and Robert Archibald added 19. Archibald had 6 points in an 8-0 opening run as Azovmash took control early. The lead grew to 17-3 as the hosts threatened to make it a blowout. Kyiv however took everything Azovmash dished out and came back to make a game of it. Kyiv cut the deficit to 24-13 after 10 minutes and then to 39-34 right before halftime. Kyiv remained close from that point and an Artur Drozdov free throw made it 78-76 with two minutes to go. With the result now in doubt, Tomas Delininkaitis stepped up, made free throws and soon added a three-pointer that helped Azovmash preserve the lead and then seal the win on its home court en route to another Ukrainian League title – the club’s fifth in the last six seasons. Delininkaitis finished with 15 for the winners. Drozdov led Kyiv with 21 points and 10 rebounds. . MORE |
