Novica Velickovic - PartizanIn the top match of the weekend, reigning champion Partizan edged second-place Red Star 82-85 behind late heroics by this week's Euroleague MVP Novica Velickovic, who finished with game highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Partizan improved its league-leading record to 19-2, while Red Star stayed second at 16-5 despite the loss. Cibona and Hemofarm Stada are tied for third and now trail Red Star by a single win. Cibona survived an 86-88 thriller over Vojvodina Srbijagas, led by a combined 43 points from Alan Anderson and Luksa Andric. Buducnost m:tel downed Hemofarm 87-72 as Vladimir Dasic had an excellent night on the offensive end. Union Olimpija beat Bosna ASA BHT 78-68 to tie Bosna at 9-12. FMP has the same record, too, after the team from Zeleznik prevailed 90-74 over Helios Domzale as Filip Covic collected 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and four other scorers had between 10 and 13 points for the winners. In a Croatian derby, Zagreb CO defeated national champion Zadar 79-70 thanks to a 23-12 fourth quarter. And Split CO celebrated an 86-71 victory over Krka behind 19 points apiece from Mario Delas and Jamon Lucas.

Red Star led 64-54 with 10 minutes to go, but a red-hot Velickovic scored 11 points in a 5-17 Partizan spurt to help the champs take a 69-71 lead. Red Star's Tadija Dragicevic would even it up at 71-71, but Aleksandar Rasic, Velickovic and Stephane Lasme organized a 0-7 charge to take the lead for good. Red Star fought back and came as close as 82-83 on free throws by Mirko Kovac with only seconds left on the clock. But once again Velickovic stepped up to grab his fourth offensive rebound and draw his eighth foul of the night, before he sank both free throws for the 82-85 win, as Red Star ended its last attack with a turnover. For Partizan, Velickovic registered a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, Zarko Rakocevic added 11 points, while Lasme and Milenko Tepic chipped in with 10 points apiece. Lasme also blocked 4 shots. For Red Star, Marko Marinovic made 10 of his 12 free-throw attempts to finish with 17 points, Oliver Stevic notched 12 points, Dragicevic netted 11, and Kovac and Elmedin Kikanovic scored 10 points each.

With just over a minute to go, Cibona trailed 79-78 against Vojvodina, but Anderson nailed a triple to make it 79-81 and then exchanged free throws with the hosts' Marko Sutalo. Next, Nikola Prkacin hit both from the free throw line for Cibona, and after Earl Calloway stole the ball for the guests, Anderson was fouled again and made both this time. Sutalo nailed a triple for the hosts, but free throws from Cibona's Robert Troha made it 83-88, so Jovan Zdravkovic's three-pointer on the last shot of the game didn't change much, as Cibona celebrated an 86-88 victory. Anderson finished with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals, Andric produced 20 points, Davor Kus had 12 points and 3 steals and Earl Calloway added 7 points, 7 assists and 3 steals for the winners. Charron Fisher scored a team-high 17 points for Vojvodina.

Buducnost beat Hemofarm 87-72 behind 23 points from Dasic, 16 points from Nemanja Gordic, 14 points from Vladimir Micov and 11 points from Ivan Maras. Dasic registered 9 rebounds, Micov had 5 steals and Gordic dished 5 assists and drilled 4 of the winners' impressive 15 three-pointers. Stefan Markovic scored 17 points for Hemofarm, Milivoje Bozovic notched 14, Milan Macvan added 11 and Bojan Krstovic 10. Union Olimpija defeated Bosna 78-68 as Saso Ozbolt nailed 5 triples on his way to 23 points for the winners. Mirza Begic had 13 points and Jasmin Hukic added 10 points for the hosts. Dusan Dordevic and Goran Ikonic kept Bosna in the game with a combined 39 points. Zagreb CO topped Zadar 79-70 behind big performances from Krunoslav Simon and Ante Tomic. Simon drilled 4 triples on his way to a game-high 22 points, while Tomic registered a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. For Zadar, Todor Gecevski scored 15 points, Damir Rancic had 14, Hrvoje Peric 13 and Rok Stipcevic 12.
