Adriatic League, Regular Season, Game 25: March 13-14, 2009
Miljan Pavkovic - Hemofarm StadaPartizan, Cibona, Crvena Zvezda and Hemofarm Stada have made it to the Adriatic League Final Four, as all four teams have mathematically advanced to the next round with one game to go in the regular season. Cibona clinched a Final Four spot by downing regular season champions Partizan 66-58 in Zagreb on Saturday. Alan Anderson led the winners with 23 points. Hemofarm also stayed alive in the competition by edging Vojvodina Srbijagas 66-72 on the road on Saturday behind 20 points from Miljan Pavkovic. Crvena Zvezda also advanced to the Final Four by beating Zagreb CO 95-83 in Belgrade on Saturday with 19 points from Marko Keselj. Cibona and Zvezda tie for second place at 19-6, Hemofarm is fourth at 18-7 while Zadar lost all chance to qualify at 16-9. Union Olimpija improved to 10-15 by downing Zadar 73-67 at home on Saturday. It was a special game for Olimpija, as the return of Zadar head coach Zmago Sagadin came right in time. Sagadin led Olimpija to win the Saporta Cup title on March 15, 1994. Meanwhile, Buducnost m:tel moved up to 14-11 by downing FMP 85-93 on the road on Saturday. In other games, Bosna ASA BHT topped Krka 89-79 while Split CO beat Helios Domzale 92-82.

Niksa Prkacin added 14 while Brent Wright had 10 for Cibona. Milenko Tepic led Partizan with 15 points. Stephane Lasme added 12 while Slavko Vranes and Cedomir Vitkovac each had 10 for the guests, that trailed 40-34 at halftime. A layup by Earl Calloway soon made it a 14-point game, 50-36. Vitkovac had 7 points in a 0-15 run that allowed Partizan to get a 50-51 edge late in the third quarter. Cibona only allowed 3 points in the final 5 minuts, however, while Anderson led the hosts to a well-deserved win. Hemofarm also stayed alive in the competition by edging Vojvodina Srbijagas 66-72 on the road on Saturday. Pavkovic paced the winners with 20 points on 5-for-10 three-pointers. Nebojsa Joksimovic added 13, Boris Savovic had 11 while Bojan Krstovic got 10 for Hemofarm, that trailed 38-33 at halftime. Pavkovic shined late in the third quarter to make Hemofarm get a 48-59 margin after 30 minutes. Vojvodina got within 66-70 in the final minute but could not complete its comeback. Crvena Zvezda also advanced to the Final Four by beating Zagreb CO 95-83 in Belgrade on Saturday. Keselj led the winners with 19 points. Tadija Dragicevic, Lawrence Roberts and Leroy Owens each added 14 in an easy home win for Zvezda, that broke the game after the break to boost its margin to 73-52 after 30 minutes, enough to seal the outcome long before the final buzzer.

Union Olimpija improved to 10-15 by downing Zadar 73-67 at home on Saturday. Zadar lost all chances to make it to the Adriatic League Final Four in coach Zmago Sagadin's emotional return to Ljubljana. Sagadin led Olimpija to win the Saporta Cup final exactly 15 years ago, on March 15, 1994. Saso Ozbolt led the winners with 18 points. Jasmin Hukic added 15 while Jaka Klobucar had 14 for Olimpija. Rok Stipcevic had 18 points for Zadar, Desmon Farmer added 15 while Damir Rancic got 10 for the guests. Stipcevic and Farmer allowed Zadar to get a 28-38 halftime margin. Klobucar and Ozbolt took over after the break, combining for 21 poins in the third quarter to complete the hosts' comeback, 56-54, after 30 minutes. A three-pointer by Damjan Rudez broke the game open, 65-55, as Zadar did not get back in the game. Buducnost moved up to 14-11 by downing FMP 85-93 on the road on Saturday. Nemanja Gordic led the winners with 18 points. Vladimir Dasic added 15, Marko Simonovic had 14, Nikola Otasevic 13 and Vladimir Micov 11 for Buducnost. Nemanja Protic led FMP with 18 points. Dragan Labovic and Mladen Jeremic each added 17 while Nikola Ilic and Predrag Samardziski had 12 apiece for the hosts, that led 41-36 at halftime. A three-pointer by Gordic put Buducnost ahead for good, 64-65, after 30 minutes. Simonovic and an unstoppable Gordic allowed Buducnost to seal a prestigious road win.
