Belgian League playoffs, quarterfinals, Game 1: May 19, 2009

The second games of the best-of-three series are set for Thursday with reigning champ Spirou Basket Charleroi and regular season runner-up Dexia Mons-Hainaut waiting for the winners in the semifinals. Aalstar crushed Leuven 78-63 behind 21 points from Matt Lojeski. The hosts set the tone with a 20-11 opening quarter and never looked back, outrebounding Leuven by 12 along the way. Stephane Pelle added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 steals for the winners, while Demario Anderson scored 15 and dished 6 assists for Leuven. Liege edged Antwerp 66-69 as Justin Cage posted 19 points and 11 rebounds and Larry Owens scored 17. Will Thomas also had a double-double for the winners with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tim Black had 22 in defeat.
