French League playoffs, quarterfinals, Game 1: May 22-23, 2009

The French League playoffs finally got underway over the weekend with the four higher seeded teams all winning on the road. The second games of the best-of-three series are set for next weekend. Regular season champion Asvel Basket routed Strasbourg 91-68 as Chevy Troutman led six Asvel scorers in double figures with 16. Strasbourg trailed by only 5 at halftime, but Asvel controlled the second half 56-38. Defending champion SLUC Nancy beat Chorale Roanne 97-79 behind another big night from Ricardo Greer, who recorded 18 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The trio of Dewarick Spencer, Alian Koffi and Bobby Dixon led Le Mans past Gravelines-Dunkerque 76-73 and Cedrick Banks scored 15 as Orleans topped Chalon/Saone 68-64.

Reynolds and Ben Dewar scored 11 each and Nebojsa Bogavac scored 10. Brion Rush paced Strasbourg with 20.
Defending champion SLUC Nancy beat Chorale Roanne 97-79 behind another big night from Ricardo Greer, who recorded 18 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Nancy outscored Roanne, the previous champion, in each of the first three quarters in mounting a 20-point cushion and costing the rest of the way. Lamayn Wilson also scored 18 for Nancy, Cyril Julian added 12 off the bench and John Cox and Michael Morandais netted 10 each. Uche Nsonwu-Amadi tallied 17 points and 9 rebounds for Roanne and Aaron Harper and Chris Monroe scored 12 apeice.
The trio of Dewarick Spencer, Alian Koffi and Bobby Dixon led Le Mans past Gravelines-Dunkerque 76-73. Spencer scored 21, Koffi scored 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds and Dixon scored 18 and dished 4 assists for Le Mans, which looked strong early and led 49-35 at halftime, but allowed Gravelines to rally before holding on to win. Yannick Bokolo paced Gravelines with 16 points and Russell Carter posted 13 points and 10 rebounds.
