Greek League, Season 2009-10
|
| |
| Little has changed in the Greek League this season, where Panathinaikos remains the team to beat and archrivals Olympiacos as the main - and possibly only - candidate to dethrone the Greens. Panathinaikos has lifted seven consecutive trophies, every spring since 2003. The Greens landed Nick Calathes and Milenko Tepic to round out a roster that won the Triple Crown last season and features Sarunas Jasikevicius, Dimitris Diamantidis, Vassilis Spanoulis, Nikola Pekovic, Mike Batiste and many more. Olympiacos shook the off-season market with marquee arrivals like Von Wafer, Linas Kleiza and Patrick Beverley. It also kept Yotam Halperin, Nikola Vujcic, Josh Childress, Theo Papaloukas, Sofoklis Schortsanitis and Ioannis Bourousis. Aris TT Bank, Panionios On Telecoms and Maroussi Costa Coffee will try to beat the big teams in the country and fight for a 2010-11 Euroleague spot. Aris counts on new, experienced players like Michalis Kakiouzis, Demos Dikoudis and Nikos Hatzivrettas. Panionios relies on Barry Elder and Kevin Rogers, while Maroussi has Billy Keys, Jamon Gordon and Kostas Kaimakoglou as its main stars. PAOK is a sleeper in this year's Greek League with talented stars such as Ivan Radenovic, Chris Monroe and William Avery. AEK and Panellinios will also try to reach the playoffs, but it would be a big surprise if anyone other than Panathinaikos and Olympiacos was fighting for the Greek League title in Spring 2010. |
