Washington Wizards 115-96 Zalgiris Kaunas
Lithuanian champion Zalgiris Kaunas wrapped up its North American swing with a defeat at the Washington Wizards 115-96 in the U.S. capital on Friday. The hosts finished the opening period with a 15-0 run which stood up the rest of the way. Even though a tired Zalgiris side matched its opponents for the final three periods, it wasn't able to close the gap from a 33-18 opening period and never got closer than 8 after that. Forward Andray Blatche led Washington with with 20 points and 8 rebounds, Nick Young added 15, Brendan Haywood scored 13 and the Wizards' Lithuanian forward Darius Songalia chipped in with 8. DeJuan Collins shined for Zalgiris with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists, Jonas Maciulis scored 16 and grabbed 9 rebounds, Tanoka Beard had 14 and 7 and Marko Popovic scored 10. Zalgiris spent a week playing against NBA competition in North America, losing to Golden State and Toronto before taking on Washington.
