USL result, Day 2: Union Olimpija 70-68 Benetton treviso

Union Olimpija registered its first win in the ULEB Summer League by rallying from a 13-point deficit to down Benetton Treviso 70-68 in Jesolo, Italy on Friday. Olimpija improved to 1-1 in Group B while Benetton dropped to 0-2. Mujo Tuljkovic led the winners with 24 points on 10-of-16 two-pointers and 10 rebounds, but Sandi Cebular led Olimpija's comeback in the fourth quarter and hit the game-winning shot with 4 seconds to go. Cebular had 15 points while Miha Zupan added 10 for Olimpija. John Gilchrist had 18 points for Benetton, Tyler Smith 13 and Pawel Mroz 12. Benetton used a 0-6 run that Slay capped with an acrobatic layup to get a 4-10 early lead. Tuljkovic was the only scorer for Olimpija in the first quarter, while Gilchrist and Wojciek Barycz allowed Benetton to extend its margin to 10-18 after 10 minutes. Zupan tried to change things for Olimpija, but Gilchrist allowed Benetton to keep a 26-37 halftime lead. Three-pointers by Kevin Burleson and Zan Vrecko gave Olimpija some hope at 38-45. Gilchrist stepped up with three consecutive layups to keep Benetton out of trouble, 40-51. Zupan hit a baseline jumper and dunked it for a 46-54 Olimpija deficit, sparking a 15-2 run in which Cebular buried back-to-back triples to help his team to get its first lead, 57-56, with 6 minutes to go. Zupan stepped up with a power layup but Mroz kept Benetton close, 61-60. Tuljkovic scored inside but a three-point play by Slay tied the game at 63-63. Gilchrist and Barycz made Olimpija call timeout, 65-68, with 94 seconds remaining. Free throws by Kevin Burleson and Tuljkovic sparked a 5-0 run that Cebular capped with a huge turnaround jumper to win it for Olimpija, as Barycz did not manage to get a final shot for Benetton down the stretch.
