USL result, Day 3: ULEB Cup 104-101 Benetton Treviso
|
Another overtime game, this time between two teams without chance to make Sunday's final, proved that the ULEB Summer League is bringing out the competitiveness in everyone. The shots kept flying until the ULEB Cup free agent team had a 104-101 victory in OT against Benetton Treviso. Yassib Idbihi again paced the ULEB Cup team with 26 points, this time adding 12 rebounds and 4 steals. He had plenty of help from another double-double man, Olu Babalola, with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Levar Seals followed them with 15 points, while Djordje Komdinic and Terry Williams added 11 each, Stevan Milosevic and Eric Osmundson 10 each. Benetton, winless so far, tried to defend its pride as the local team in the tournament, but could not keep up the pace of the ULEB Cup team in the fourth quarter and OT. Ron Slay and John Gilchrist had 18 points each for Benetton, Tyler Smith 16, Rod Gizzard 13 and Ken Tutt 11. Slay pulled 12 boards, too. Slay's three-pointer in the final minute of regulation time sent the game into OT. There, Babalola and Seals shot ULEB Cup ahead, while Idbihi and Komdinic preserved the victory at the free throw line.
