Logan Kosmalski turned in a monster performance to outshine Belton Rivers's triple double as Union Olimpija Ljubljana defeated the Chinese Basketball Association 81-89 in the the ULEB Summer League third-place game on Sunday. Kosmalski came off the bench for 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead five Olimpija scorers in double figures as the team won its third in a row to finish the competition. Rivers put on a show with 29 points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals and 4 assists, but couldn't carry his team down the stretch. CBA came out firing, scoring the game's first 17 points as Rivers posted 8. Robert Nuber finally got Olimpija on the board and then Kosmalski, Zan Vrecko and Blagoj Janev took turns sharing the scoring to bring the team within 25-18 after 10 minutes. Fei Peng helped CBA increase the lead to 14 in the second period, but Olimpija remained staunch and Janev's free throws made it 44-38 at halftime. The game remained close for much of the second half with neither team leading by more than 5 points. With a minute to go Triantafillos Tzakopoulos converted a three-point play that brought CBA within 81-82. But Janev answered with a three and Rivers missed free throws and then turned the ball over on successive possessions, while Sandi Cebular and Janev were accurate from the line to seal the win and third place for Olimpija. Mujo Tuljkovic added 16 points, Janev and Cebular had 14 apiece and Vrecko 12 for Olimpija. Tzakopoulos posted 13, Claudio Ceccotti 12 and Peng 10 for CBA in defeat.
