Final Eight refs, commissioners announced

The names of the 12 referees who will work the 2008 ULEB Cup Final Eight in Torino, Italy have been announced by the organization. The full list of referees includes: Ilija Belosevic (Serbia), Christos Christodoulou (Greece), Gianpaolo Cicoria (Italy), Fabio Facchini (Italy), Jose Garcia Ortiz (Spain), Tomas Jasevicius (Lithuania), Milivoje Jovcic (Serbia), Oscar Lefwerth (Sweden), Emilio Perez Pizarro (Spain), Sasa Pukl (Slovenia), Fernando Rocha (Portugal) and Eddie Viator (France). Belosevic, Pukl and Viator were officiated games at the Euroleague Final Four in Athens last year. Jovcic previously worked the second leg of the 2003 final in which Pamesa Valencia lifted the first-ever ULEB Cup trophy, while Facchini officiated last year's final in which Real Madrid downed Lietuvos Rytas. Christodoulou, Garcia Ortiz, Jasevicius, Lefwerth and Perez Pizaaro have never refereed in either the Euroleague Final Four or the ULEB Cup Final. As always, by assigning newcomers to the Final Eight officiating crew, the ULEB Cup aims both to diversify the pool of referees with experience in Europe's top basketball event and reward professional competency. The Final Eight is to be held from Thursday, April 10 to Sunday, April 13 at the Palavela in Turin, Italy and features the following teams: Dynamo Moscow, Akasvayu Girona, PGE Turow Zgorzelec, Unics Kazan, DKV Joventut, Pamesa Valencia, Besiktas JK Cola Turka and Galatasaray Cafe Crown.
