Player to Watch: Sandro Nicevic
Sandro Nicevic - Besiktas Cola Turka Sometimes it seems there’s nothing that Besiktas Cola Turka center Sandro Nicevic can’t do. Nicevic, 31, is the complete package in the low post; on offense he can score or pass out to the open man, on defense he is always a shot-blocking threat and his knack for rebounding is uncanny. His presence on the court simply makes his team better, as opponents always have to respect his abilities and his experience at the highest levels is a big bonus as well. Nicevic has played in parts of five Euroleague seasons with five different teams and has won domestic championships in his native Croatia and Spain and Cup titles in Croatia and France. This season he has been a rock in the middle for Besiktas, ranking second on his team in minutes played and rebounds, third in assists and drawing the most fouls, while averaging double figures in points. But his statistics only tell half the story, as his work away from the ball, ability to set strong picks and the rest of his team-oriented style all factored into Besiktas’s undefeated regular season and the impressive scoring numbers by the rest of his team. And that is sure to be the case as Besiktas takes aim at the Final Eight.
