The star: Huseyin Besok
Huseyin Besok Even before helping Galatasaray Cafe Crown reach the Final Eight, center Huseyin Besok had secured his place as a true giant of Turkish basketball. Over 14 years at the top of the sport, Besok has dominated as a rebounder and shot-blocker, collecting six national championships and a Korac Cup on four teams in four countries. He has also appeared in three continental Final Fours, more than any other Turkish player. Besok debuted with Efes Pilsen in 1994, and soon was contributing to the team's back-to-back Turkish League titles and Korac Cup crown. By 2000, he helped Efes become the first-ever Euroleague Final Four qualifier from Turkey, a feat the team duplicated a year later in the SuproLeague, whose champions from Maccabi Tel Aviv signed Besok soon after. With Maccabi, Besok went to his third consecutive Final Four and won two Israeli League titles. Later, with Le Mans in France and Prokom Trefl Sopot in Poland, Besok added two more country titles. If his return home to Turkey came with great expectations, Besok has met them by helping Galatasaray position itself for a shot at the ULEB Cup crown!
