Lietuvos Rytas star: Chuck Eidson
With another brilliant performance in leading Lietuvos Rytas to the Final Eight, Chuck Eidson confirmed his status as one of the best players in the competition's recent history and earned the title of Eurocup MVP for the 2008-09 season. Eidson led the entire Eurocup in index ranking and assists this season, while placing second in steals and sixth in scoring. He enters the Final Eight ranked third all-time in average index rating and assists-per-game, seventh all-time in scoring. Eidson's career has taken off in the three seasons since he first entered Europe’s second competition for French club Strasbourg. He was named the ULEB Cup weekly MVP in his very first game and twice more after that while guiding Strasbourg to the quarterfinals, where they lost to L. Rytas. His game impressed the Lithuanian giants so much so that they signed Eidson the following summer. He has kept proving them right ever since, shining in the Euroleague last season and dominating all comers this year. With the body of a forward and the mindset of a guard, Eidson started playing point forward this season and proved there is little he can't do well. His virtuosity is a major reason that L. Rytas is playing for a new trophy in Turin.
