Pamesa Valencia star: Shammond Williams
Shammond Williams - Pamesa ValenciaWhen Pamesa Valencia takes the court in Turin for the Final Eight, plenty of its ambition will be embodied by one of its signature players, do-everything guard Shammond Williams. As the top scorer and assist-maker on the team with the best record this Eurocup season, the impact of Williams during his second season in Valencia is crystal clear. Pamesa is his third European team in five seasons, but Williams had already established himself as one of the premier backcourt forces on the continent. Williams debuted in Europe very briefly with Ulker of Turkey in his first pro season out of University of North Carolina. After five NBA seasons, he returned to Europe with Unics Kazan of Russia, establishing himself as a big-time scorer. He joined FC Barcelona in 2005 and as a Euroleague rookie averaged double figures while helping his new team return to the Euroleague Final Four. After another year in the NBA, Williams joined Pamesa last season and showed the way to the ULEB Cup Final Eight, although a quarterfinal loss to eventual champs DKV Joventut ended their dream. One year later, Williams and Pamesa are back in the Final Eight with matching ambitions to bring the Eurocup title home to Valencia.
