Hemofarm Stada star: Stefan Markovic
Stefan Markovic - Hemofarm StadaAmong the many young and precocious talents to watch at the Final Eight, count Hemofarm Stada point guard Stefan Markovic high on the list. At the tender age of 20, Markovic has been indispensable to the team from Vrsac, Serbia consolidating a long run of competitiveness with a trip to the Final Eight. Indeed, for all three seasons since he arrived in Vrsac as a teenager, Markovic has been a full-time starter in Europe's second competition. Markovic, who had already been a key member of the under-16 and under-18 Serbia national teams, made immediate impact on Hemofarm by helping it reach both the Adriatic League and Serbian League semifinals in 2007. While still a teenager, Markovic joined the Serbian senior national team that played at EuroBasket 2007, the same summer in which he led helped the country's under-19 team become world champions. Last season, Markovic cemented his status as Hemofarm's floor general by guiding the team to three, in the Adriatic League, Serbian Cup and Serbian League. This season, during Hemofarm's run to the Final Eight, he led the team in minutes played and steals. Needless to say, as Hemofarm aims for glory in Turin, the ball and the trust of his teammates will be in Markovic’s hands.
