BC Kyiv nabs guard Pooh Jeter
BC Kyiv put the finishing touches on the roster for next season with the signing of Eugene "Pooh" Jeter. The American point guard, who will take his trade to Europe for the first time, has been a star player in each of his stops in recent years. Jeter (179, 23) had inked a contract with Elan Chalon, but opted out of it to join Kyiv. He played in the NBDL last season, where he posted 14.4 points and 7.1 assists per game in 50 appearances for the Colorado 14ers. He then averaged 25.7 points and 8.3 assists in the playoffs, helping Colorado reach the finals. He was also selected to the NBDL All-Star Game and named All-NBDL honorable mention at the end of the season. Jeter spent the summer playing for the D-League Ambassadors, averaging 10.8 points and 2 assists in the Stankovic Cup. Jeter was also a star at the University of Portland, where he was a two-time All-WCC fist team selection and finished second on the school's alltime scoring list. His nickname "Pooh" was given to him by his grandmother Ethel White, who said that he looked like a black pooh bear when he was born.
