Qualifying Round E, Game 1 preview: Panellinios BC vs. Telekom Baskets Bonn

Telekom Baskets Bonn returns to European competition for the first time since 2006 and faces a tough test against Panellinios in the first round of Eurocup qualifying. Head coach Michael Koch's side reached the final of the German playoffs last season and he is poised to lead Bonn at least to the Eurocup regular season. Koch re-did his team, which started the German league with two wins in its first three games. Guard EJ Rowland was added to team with Winsome Frazier returning in the backcourt. Forward Brandon Bowman’s all-around skills have shown and he could feed off of new acquisition Vincent Yarbrough, who has some Euroleague experience at the forward spot. Meanwhile center Ken Johnson led the ULEB Cup in blocked shots last season. Bowman continuing his fine early form will go a long way in Telekom knocking off Panellinios. Head coach Elias Zouros has a major job in getting all his new players on the same page. Do-it-all guard Anthony Grundy returns and will now team with Australian guard Brad Newley in the backcourt. Ivan Radenovic comes to Panellinios looking to break out after a solid but unspectacular rookie season with Girona. Big man Jurica Golemac and guard Giorgos Kalaitzis add some important experience to the Panellinios squad. The backcourt battles between Rowland and Frazier of Bonn and Grundy and Newley of Panellinios could prove to be the key to this series.
