Bryant Dunston has been Efes's defensive anchor for the last six seasons. During his time with the club, he has seen Efes fall a Game 5 of the 2017 playoffs, fall to the bottom of the standings in 2018, rise to the championship game in 2019, post the best record in 2020 and finally lift the trophy in 2021. During all this time with Efes, Dunston, a 2016-17 All-EuroLeague Second Team selection, also became the EuroLeague's all-time leader in blocked shots (251).
"All these years of hard work, sacrificing. All these guys on our team sacrificed a lot to fit into the team's mold. It means something. I am really proud of everybody, it is really incredible," Dunston said after the championship game.
Dunston made his biggest contributions at the Final Four in Cologne in the championship game against FC Barcelona. He came off the bench and posted 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal for a PIR of 7. Dunston collected a key defensive rebound in the final minute which allowed Larkin to seal the outcome from the foul line.
