Krunoslav Simon was instrumental in Efes making it to the Final Four. His go-ahead three-point shot in Game 5 of the playoffs against Real Madrid was one of the most iconic moments of the 2020-21 EuroLeague season and helped seal a hard-fought ticket to the Final Four. At age 35, Simon earned a golden opportunity to finally lift the EuroLeague trophy.
He played a major role in the semifinals against CSKA Moscow, finishing the game with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a PIR of 16 in almost 30 minutes on the court. Only Shane Larkin and Vasilije Micic had a higher PIR than Simon. He grabbed one of the game's most decisive rebounds, with Efes up 86-87 and 9 seconds remaining.
Simon played over 28 minutes in the championship game against FC Barcelona and, as always, did a little bit of everything to make sure Efes won its first EuroLeague title. He had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in the title bout. His outstanding performances in the previous two games allowed Efes to be in the right place at the right time and when the dust settled, Simon was finally a EuroLeague champion in his ninth season and 211th game in the competition.
