Erten Gazi was the only player Anadolu Efes Istanbul added to a championship-worthy mix in the summer of 2020. After spending five years playing college basketball in the United States, Gazi returned home and spent his first season gaining experience, adjusting to the high level of play and supporting his teammates with his cheery attitude behind the scenes.
As a rookie guard on a team with a historically great backcourt, minutes would always be tough to come by. However, Coach Ergin Ataman was never afraid to roll out Gazi when the circumstances warranted. He played significant minutes in the Turkish League, which allowed Efes's veteran stars to rest more. Gazi even made a spot start in the EuroLeague in a Round 7 victory over Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.
Late in the season, Gazi was included in the roster for Game 1 of the playoffs and helped finish off the victory with a late three-pointer. An Efes player as a teenager, Gazi realized a dream by helping the club with the EuroLeague and Turkish League in his first season as a professional.
