Donnie Nelson, Simone Pianigiani headline Final Four coaching clinic

Simone Pianigiani - Montepaschi SienaEuroleague Basketball is proud to announce the clinicians for the 2013 Euroleague Final Four Coaching Clinic, taking place on Saturday, May 11 at The London Soccerdome, between 4 and 6:30 pm, local time. Thanks to the on-going collaboration with the NBA, the clinicians will be Donnie Nelson, Dallas Mavericks General Manager and President of Basketball Operations, and Simone Pianigiani, Italian Senior Men's National Team Head Coach.

Each coach will give a 60-minute clinic and then hold a short Q & A session. Donnie Nelson will talk about "Fast Break and Early Offense", whilst Simone Pianigiaini will talk about "Pick-and-Roll Offense".

Donnie Nelson
Donnie Nelson is one of the most respected minds in the NBA, having previous experience in the league as a scout, assistant coach and head coach, in addition to his current role. He is currently also co-owner of the Texas Legends NBA D-League team. Nelson has a wealth of international basketball experience, having served in the past as an assistant coach for the Lithuanian Senior Men’s National Team, a scout for the USA Senior Men’s National Team and as Chief Advisor for the Chinese Senior Men’s National Team.

Simone Pianigiani took Montepaschi Siena to the Euroleague Final Four in 2008, in his first season as a head coach in the competition. He repeated the feat in 2011, along the way winning the Italian National Championship six times in as many years. He was named head coach in 2006 after serving the previous ten seasons as an assistant coach for Siena. In 2012-13 he was the head coach of Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul.

Pianigiani was named Italian Senior Men’s National Team Head Coach in 2009, leading the side in their quest to return to medal winning contention at the EuroBasket level.

Entry to the clinic is free. Coaches are requested to send an email to [email protected] in order to confirm their attendance. The London Soccerdome is located at East Parkside, SE10 0JF, a five-minute walk from The O2 or the North Greenwich Underground Station.
