Baskonia fans rooting for Efes in Final Four

Fans Baskonia - FanZone - Final Four Vitoria-Gasteiz 2019 - EB18

Many Baskonia fans could be found at the FanZone all weekend long as well as in the stands at Fernando Buesa Aena for the games. They have made it a point to have the club's blue and red colors on display whenever possible. But, who will they support in the championship game?

"All of us here will cheer for Efes," said Imanol Ruiz De Vergara, who was with a group of friends and family at FanZone Sunday afternoon and had tickets for the championship game, too."I think, if not all Baskonia fans, then most of them will cheer for Efes. Efes has three players who played for Baskonia and who we love, Shane Larkin, Tibor Pleiss and Rodrigue Beaubois."

Is that the only reason? "CSKA beat Baskonia in the playoffs!"

EuroLeague Academy tournament final attracts local fans

Among many fun activities and events at the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague FanZone throughout the weekend, the most competitive of them all were the five-on-five games of the EuroLeague Academy basketball tournament. The 16 co-ed teams of players under-12 were made up of more than 200 children from Vitoria-Gasteiz based schools. Sunday afternoon the tournament concluded with Toki Eder 2 beating Marianistas 1 by the score 54-19 in the final to win the EuroLeague Academy trophy. To the delight of the children, as well as the crowded stands on the Main Court at Plaza España (Plaza Nueva), there to present the trophy and hand out commemorative medals were KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz forward Johannes Voigtmann and Final Four Ambassadors Johnny Rogers and Michalis Kakiouzis.
