Brose Baskets Bamberg has confirmed that the team's new forward, Novica Velickovic, will spend some weeks away from team practices while working on individual conditioning. Velickovic, a former Euroleague Rising Star Trophy winner, played earlier in the preseason but missed last weekend in the Maxit Cup tournament on the team's home court. While he is on a personal conditioning regimen, Velickovic is expected to miss the start of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague season. Velickovic collected 15 points and seven rebounds against Ludwigsburg on September 3 and hit for 13 points against PGE Turow Zgorcelec six days later. But Velickovic did not play for Bamberg against Bremerhaven on September 13 or last weekend in the Maxit Cup. The club said it working on signing a new player. “We made the decision after discussing it with the doctor, physiotherapists, athletic trainer and of course the player. We just want to build him up. He has muscular deficits and cannot play at the physical level he is capable of,” said Brose general manager Wolfgang Heyder.
