Brose Baskets Bamberg has released Damir Markota with immediate effect following the return of power forward Novica Velickovic. Markota had signed a three-month deal in late September as a replacement for Velickovic, who was kept out of the start of the season to improve his individual conditioning. Markota, whose deal was to expire on December 27, averaged 4.2 points and 2.7 rebounds in six games in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. In nine Beko BBL contests, the 27-year-old Croatian international averaged 6.0 points and 5.7 rebounds. “We thank Damir for his performance and wish him only the best for the remainder of his career,” said Bamberg coach Chris Fleming. Velickovic appeared in his first competitive game of the season against Strasbourg, collecting two points and one rebound in 3:29 minutes of action.
