Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul bolstered its frontcourt with one of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague’s top rebounders and shot-blockers from the past couple of seasons, center Semih Erden, who returns to the club after four years away on a one-year deal signed Friday. Erden (2.11 meters, 27 years old) arrives from cross-town rival Anadolu Efes Istanbul, where he spent the past two seasons. Before he had his campaign cut short by injury last season, the big man was posting 6.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. It was his seventh Euroleague season, four of which he played for Fenerbahce from 2006 until 2010. He helped FB Ulker win Turkish League titles in 2007, 2008 and 2010, as well as the Turkish Cup trophy in 2010. Erden has also played for Boston and Cleveland in the NBA, Besiktas JK Istanbul and Darussafaka in Turkey, and Partizan Belgrade in Serbia during his career. He is also a regular member of the Turkish national team, and he helped Turkey win a silver medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championships.
