As the club announced on Tuesday morning, Zalgiris Kaunas confirmed coach Gintaras Krapikas for the upcoming season on the head coach position. Krapikas, age 53, became head coach of the team last April as he stepped in for waived Saulius Stombergas, who in turn had stepped in for Ilias Zouros, after poor results. He then led the team to the Lithuanian League title. Krapikas, also a former player of Zalgiris, already coached Zalgiris during some months between 2008-09 and 2009-10, as well as being the team's assistant coach for seven full seasons. He also coached Azovmash Mariupol for two months in 2011-12 and has also worked for the Lithuanian national team as assistant coach, too.
