Kostas Kaimakoglou - Unics Kazan

Unics Kazan extended its contract with a versatile forward Kostas Kaimakoglou for two more years, the club announced Thursday. Kaimakoglou (2.04 meters, 31 years old) spent the past two seasons with Unics, helping it reach the Eurocup Quarterfinals in 2013 and Eurocup Finals last season. However, he did not play in the final series against Valencia BC due to injury, as Unics dearly missed his 8.0 points per game with 41.4% three-point accuracy, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals. In the VTB United League last season, Kaimakoglou was even better with 11.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals.

Before coming to Russia, Kaimakoglou had a strong two-year run with Panathinaikos Athens where he helped the Greens win the 2011 Turkish Airlines Euroleague championship and return to the Final Four the season after that. Kaimakoglou spent the first two years of his pro career with Near East in Athens, then the next six with Maroussi, with whom he made his Euroleague debut in 2009-10, averaging 9.6 points as the team went from the qualifying rounds to the brink of the playoffs. He is also a regular member of the Greek national team and helped it win the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2009.
