Khimki inks Teemu Rannikko

Teemu Rannikko Khimki Moscow has added Finnish point guard Teemu Rannikko for the coming season. Rannikko (188, 27) has become an accomplished Euroleague player over the last few seasons, headlining the Union Olimpija backcourt over the past two seasons. Last year Rannikko averaged 14.6 points and 3.3 assists per game in 13 appearances for Olimpija. He grew up with Piiloset in his native Finland, earning Finnish League Most Improved Player honors in 1998. He followed that up by winning the league's MVP award in each of the next two years, leading Piiloset to the 2000 Finnish Cup. Rannikko went to Italy next, joining Reggio Emilia for two years. He joined Roseto Basket in 2002 and then Scavolini Pesaro from 2003-2005, where he made his Euroleague debut. His next stop was at Olimpija Ljubljana, where he spent two seasons, winning the Slovenian Cup and league championship double in 2006.
