Strasbourg strengthened its frontcourt by signing veteran big man Ali Traore, who is one of France’s best interior players. Traore (2.08 meters, 29 years old) played for JSF Nanterre last season and averaged 8.7 points on 62.5% shooting plus 3 rebounds in nine Turkish Airlines Euroleague games off the bench. It was his first season back in France after playing three years abroad. A product of the Asvel Lyon Villeurbanne youth system, Traore made his professional debut there in 2001. He has since played for Qumper, Roanne, Le Havre and Nanterre; Virtus Rome in Italy; Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar in Russia and Alba Berlin in Germany. He helped Asvel to win the French League title in 2009 and lift the Semaine des As trophy in 2010 and won the 2013 German Cup with Berlin. Traore was chosen as the French League MVP in 2009-10. He has also played for the French national team at the Olympic Games and FIBA World Championships and won a silver medal at EuroBasket 2011.
