Stelmet Zielona Gora continued its preparations for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds by inking scoring guard Steve Burtt Jr. on Thursday. Burtt (1.85 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Spartak St. Petersburg, where he averaged 16.9 points and 5.6 assists in 10 Eurocup games last season. He has also played for Avtodor Saratov in Russia, Tofas Bursa in Turkey, Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk and Ferro-ZNTU Zaporozhye in Ukraine, Primetel Apollon in Cyprus, Menorca Basquet in Spain, Eldan Ashkelon in Israel, Ignis Draghi Novara in Italy, Sport Lisboa Benfica in Portugal, AEP Olimpiada Patron in Greece and Northeastern Pennsylvania of the USBL, always showcasing his outstanding scoring skills. Burtt led the 2007-08 Israeli League in scoring with Ashkelon and was the back-to-back Ukrainian League top scorer with Ferro in 2009-10 and with Dnipro in 2010-11, helping both teams win the Ukrainian Cup those seasons. Burtt has also been a member of the Ukrainian national team. His father, Steve Burtt Sr., enjoyed a succsful professional career in the 1980s and ‘90s. Burtt will now try to make his Euroleague debut by making Zielona Gora survive the Qualifying Rounds.
