Galatasaray Liv Hospital added a presence inside and leadership for the locker room by signing big man Kerem Gonlum to a one-year contract, with an option to extend it until the end of the 2015-16 season. Gonlum (2.08 meters, 36 years old) is one of the greatest rebounders in Euroleague history. He is sixth on the competition’s career charts with 1,056 rebounds and 12th all-time with 212 games played. Gonlum has spent the previous nine years with Anadolu Efes Istanbul. He averaged 6.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 17 Euroleague games as a part-time starter last season. He was worth 8.9 points and 7.0 rebounds in the Turkish League. During his team with Efes, Gonlum won the Turkish League title in 2009 and lifting Turkish Cup trophies in 2006, 2007 and 2009. He started his career in TED Kolejliler and soon joined Ulker, which he helped win the Turkish League title in 2001 and back-to-back Turkish Cups in 2003 and 2004. Gonlum was a long-time regular member of the Turkish national team and helped it to win a silver medal at the 2010 World Championships.
