CSKA Moscow reached an agreement with power forward Demetris Nichols to help the team next season, the club announced Monday. Nichols (2.03 meters, 29 years old) is on a two-week tryout. He arrives from Krasnye Krilya Samara, where Nichols averaged 14 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 22 VTB League games last season. Nichols has also played for Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rico, Sioux Falls and Iowa of the D-League, Cholet Basket, BCM Gravelines Dunkerque and JA Vichy Val d'Allier Auvergne Basket in France, as well as for Chicago and New York of the NBA. He helped Gravelines reach the French Cup title game in 2010. "He is a so-called 'stretch-4', a power forward with good outside shooting. Nichols is an extremely good athlete who can easily switch and defend in the perimeter," CSKA coach Dimitris Itoudis said. "It is important that he is very motivated to play for CSKA. He will start on a two-week tryout period and I hope we can continue our collaboration after that."
