PGE Turow Zgorzelec added another piece to its frontcourt with the signing of forward Chris Wright, who will make his European basketball debut with the Polish champion. Wright (2.03 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Milwaukee of the NBA, which he played eight games for last season and spent the pre-season with the team. He averaged 6 points on 60% shooting plus 2.5 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 16 minutes per game for Milwaukee. Wright is considered to be an outstanding athlete and an above-average defender. He had also played for Golden State in the NBA and Maine and Dakota in the D-League. Last year he posted 19.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 41 D-League games with Maine. Wright was selected to both the 2014 All D-League Second Team and the All-D League Defensive Second Team. He is expected to land in Poland on Tuesday and travel with the Turow for its Regular Season Round 3 game at FC Barcelona.
"Chris is a totally different player than those which we have,” PGE Turow coach Miodrag Rajkovic said. “He is a very athletic player and does not need a lot of time with the ball to get points. He is very active on the boards, steals balls, runs and is a good fit for our tactics. Wright has never played in Europe, so it will be important for Mardy [Collins] and Tony [Taylor] to help him adapt to playing in Europe."
